Oil life & reset procedures

Engine oil life system reset

Before you start

  • Reset the system whenever the engine oil is changed so that the system can calculate the next engine oil change.
  • Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off.

Steps

  1. Display the REMAINING OIL LIFE on the DIC. See Driver Information Center (DIC) on page 5-21.
  2. Press and hold the SET/CLR button on the DIC while the Oil Life display is active. The oil life will change to 100%.
  3. Remove the retaining clips (2) securing the cover on the air cleaner/filter housing.
  4. Pull straight up on the cover; while holding the cover, remove the air filter.
  5. Inspect or replace the air filter. See Maintenance Replacement Parts on page 11-13.
  6. Reverse Steps 2-5 to reinstall the cover.

You’ll know it worked: The oil life will change to 100%.

Operating the engine with the air cleaner/filter off can cause you or others to be burned.
