Oil life & reset procedures

Engine oil life system reset

Before you start

  • Reset the system whenever the engine oil is changed so that the system can calculate the next engine oil change.
  • with the engine off.

Steps

  1. Display OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC. See Driver Information Center (DIC) on page 5-23 and Engine Oil Messages on page 5-30.
  2. Press V for five seconds to reset the oil life at 100%.
  3. Remove the screws (3) on the sides of the air cleaner cover assembly.
  4. Turn the cover upward to disengage the cover hinges.
  5. Lift and remove the air cleaner cover assembly and air filter element.
  6. Inspect or replace the air filter element.
  7. Reverse Steps 1-5 to reinstall the engine air cleaner/filter cover and air duct hose.

You’ll know it worked: If the OIL LIFE REMAINING value is not 100%, the system needs to be reset again.

Use of the incorrect automatic transmission fluid may damage the vehicle, and the damage may not be covered by the vehicle warranty.
