Oil life & reset procedures
Engine oil life system reset
Before you start
- Reset the system whenever the engine oil is changed so that the system can calculate the next engine oil change.
Steps
- Using the DIC controls on the right side of the steering wheel, display OIL LIFE on the DIC. See Driver Information Center (DIC) 0 143. When remaining oil life is low, the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will appear on the display. See Engine Oil Messages 0 151.
- Press and hold SEL on the DIC controls for a few seconds to clear the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message and reset the oil life at 100%.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (2) and the connector harness from the cover.
- Remove the four screws (1) on top of the cover of the housing and lift up the cover.
- Remove the engine air cleaner/ filter from the housing. Take care to dislodge as little dirt as possible.
- Clean the engine air cleaner/filter sealing surfaces and the housing.
- Inspect or replace the engine air cleaner/filter.
- Reverse Steps 2-4 to reinstall the filter cover housing. { Warning
You’ll know it worked: If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message is not on, the system is reset.
Use of the incorrect automatic transmission fluid may damage the vehicle, and the damage may not be covered by the vehicle warranty.
Operating the engine with the air cleaner/filter off can cause you or others to be burned.
